Space for All the Generations

Emily purchased this home for herself and her mother.

Spacious, convenient, and welcoming, it was envisioned as a comfortable home for an elderly family matriarch, and a natural gathering place for their large extended family during festive occasions.

Wood for Thought

The bare unit came with finishes that didn’t reflect Emily’s preference for earthy, neutral tones. To bring her vision to life, we overlaid new flooring and tiling throughout the home, grounding the space in her preference for Japandi-inspired aesthetic.

Gather Round and Feast

Emily and the mother love cooking and baking for the family. So the kitchen and dining areas were reconfigured to host larger groups with ease. 
 
The dining room was kept open and airy. We introduced a kitchen island that could double as an extended dining space. And the adjoining kitchen was planned to flow seamlessly into these areas, encouraging conversation and mingling. 

Forever Home

Designed as a place to age gracefully, the home incorporates wheelchair-friendly considerations in key areas such as the bedroom and activity rooms. 
 
This project became a thoughtfully designed forever home, where comfort meets functionality, and where generations could come together with ease for many years to come.
